Souzhou
Souzhou has been famous for it's double-sided embroidery, usually framed in such a way that both sides can be viewed by either spinning the frame around or moving to the other side of larger pieces. The lifelike images portrayed are often worked from photographs. The work is done in such a way that all sides are equally acurate and devoid of visable knots and thread ends. This large embroidery of fish swimming in a natural looking environment is set in a beautiful carved wooden frame. Notice the embroidery is done on a fine transparent mesh. |
